Semiahmoo Model United Nations 2018
Semiahmoo Model United Nations (SemiMUN) is a day conference held in South Surrey, BC. Ever since its first initiation by a group of Semiahmoo Secondary students in 2014, SemiMUN has strived to provide its delegates with a friendly environment for freely exploring new ideas while learning about global issues and developing qualities of a global citizen.
This year, held on April 14th at Semiahmoo Secondary, SemiMUN will offer 5 unique committees encompassing topics suitable for both beginners and veterans. The General Assemblies this year include the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM). The UNEP will set out tackling energy-related waste, while SOCHUM will be seeking solutions to the growing world population and its related concerns.
SemiMUN 2018’s advanced committees are the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the Joint Historical Crisis Committee (JHCC), and the fictional Canadian Crisis Committee. The UNSC will be diving into the dispute over the militarization of the Arctic, the JHCC, the turmoil of the Spanish Civil War, and the Canadian Crisis will be a 2056 crisis where a threatening global water shortage has made Canada prey in the eye of the entire world.
With our unique and exceptional committees, we look forward to meeting all our delegates on April 14, immersed and thriving in the world of MUN!
